VPK is a FREE State of Florida educational program created to prepare four-year olds for kindergarten and to build the foundation for educational success. The VPK program offers each child an opportunity to perform better in school and throughout life by offering quality programs that include developmentally appropriate curricula with a focus on early literacy skills. Eligibility requirements stipulate that the child has to be four-years old by September 1, 2012.

8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Required documentation to register an eligible child for the VPK program:

• Proof of Florida Residency – A photocopy of a document showing the name and current home address.  Examples: Government issued ID, valid Florida Driver’s License or Florida ID, bank statements, insurance policy, utility bill, pay stubs. *Photocopy will be retained by the Department.
• Proof of the Child’s Date of Birth – A photocopy of a document showing the child’s date of birth. Examples: Birth certificate, passport, a certificate of arrival into the United States showing age, valid military dependent identification card, immunization documentation, baptism certificate or other religious record showing the child’s birth date. Guardians must show proof of legal guardianship.  *Photocopy will be retained by the Department.
• Social Security Card – Although not a requirement, it is recommended to have both parent and child’s social security card.
• At the application site you will receive:
  • A list of certified Miami-Dade County VPK providers
  • A Certificate of Eligibility to be taken to the participating VPK provider of your choice to register your child
  • Parent/Guardian Responsibility information sheet
